April 13, 1941 - October 21, 2021
Anthony C. Luraschi, 80, of North Tonawanda, peacefully passed away Oct. 21 following a brief illness. Family and faith were important to Tony. He greeted life with a broad smile and a generous heart. Of all the treasures in this world, there were none so valuable to him as the love and companionship of his wife, Aida, with whom he celebrated 50 years of marriage earlier this year, as well as his daughters, Monica and Amy, and his five grandchildren. He placed the care and comfort of others ahead of himself. Tony, who had retired from General Motors after 30 years of service, believed in integrity, disciplined work and giving people his very best. One of his great joys was gathering with relatives and friends to break bread for any occasion, especially celebrations — “Just be generous.” Tony was especially amused by the range of animal visitors freely roaming between his back doorstep and the woods nearby. He was an avid reader and also loved crossword puzzles, Sunday drives and traveling. He enjoyed watching his Buffalo teams. In all things, Tony was grounded in prayer and devoted to his Catholic faith. He was the beloved son of Constance (Grasso) and Carlo Luraschi, husband of Aida (Meza), father of Monica (Joe) Thomas and Amy Luraschi (Timothy Trump) and grandfather of Andy, Ella, Susie and Henry Thomas and Isabelle Trump. He was the brother of Elizabeth Heine and John Luraschi and brother-in-law of Maria (Richard) Martinez, David Meza, Diana (Russell) Scott, Marta (John) Juslin, Lupita Tabita, Ralph (Salli) Meza and Mark Heine. Tony also had many nieces, nephews and cousins. A private celebration of life will be held. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations to the SPCA.
