Caroline L Pane (Merletti)

December 20, 1924 - March 22, 2020

Caroline Pane (Merletti), 95, loving wife, mother and grandmother passed away on March 22, 2020 at DeGraff Residential Care facility. Caroline, born December 20, 1924 was the daughter of Celso and Beatrice Merletti. A lifelong resident of North Tonawanda, graduating from NT high school, Caroline went on to earn a degree as a dietician from Rochester Institute of Technology. She worked in the cafeteria of Carborundum before managing the cafeterias at St. Francis and Cardinal O’Hara schools in Tonawanda. Caroline was an active member of the Ascension Roman Catholic Church where she was involved with Ladies of Charity and the St. Anne Society. She worked for several years in her retirement as a volunteer for DeGraff Memorial Hospital. She also participated in the local affiliate of the Red Hat Society. Caroline was the wife of the late Louis Pane for 67 years. She is predeceased by her sister, Ida (Merletti) Giambrone and her brother, Carlo Merletti. She is survived by her children, Diana Pane (Michael Antrim), Pamela (Richard) Kandare and Joseph (Karen) Pane; and her grandchildren, Joseph Cody Kandare, John Louis Pane, Keith Pane and Anthony Pane. A private mass for the immediate family will be held. A memorial service will be announced at a later time. Contributions in her memory can be made to Buffalo City Mission at 100 E. Tupper Street Buffalo, NY 14203 or Society of St. Vincent DePaul at 1298 Main Street, Buffalo, New York 14209. Arrangements have been entrusted by the family to the Wattengel Funeral Home.
