June 25, 1935 – January 9, 2022 Don was an admirable man who lived a full and happy life. He was deeply loved and will always be cherished by his friends, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. We miss you already!! Don’s story starts on June 25, 1935 with his parents & 4 siblings who lived through the great depression. At age 16 while completing high school, Don took a position at Dunlop Tire. Through hard work and dedication after 46 years of service, he was very proud to be promoted to the transportation and logistics team. He met his wife Aleda and they married in 1956. They lived in Kenmore and started a family in 1958 having two children he absolutely adored, Linda (Steve) & Donald (Shannon). The picture above speaks 1,000 words. No matter what the situation, Don was always smiling, calm in nature and had a strong faith in the Lord. He played the guitar, enjoyed fishing off the break wall as a kid and looked forward to spending summers at the cottage with family & neighbors. He was an avid golfer and always enjoyed a competitive game of street hockey with the kids. At 48 Don and Aleda became grandparents and enjoyed 7 grandchildren Matthew & (Kim), Joshua & (Jennifer), Chelsea, Amy and Amanda (Scott). The family added another generation and he was blessed with 3 great- grandchildren, Brooke, Seth and Ellie. Don was a proud member of the Freemasons for over 61 years. At retirement he built a home in Wheatfield where he spent his time with family until his passing. With the Lords help, and his loved ones who passed, a room was waiting in heaven for Don to arrive and rest in eternal peace on January 9 th , 2022. Condolences and Sympathies can be made online at www.wattengele.com A celebration of life will be held in Don’s honor later this spring. We will reach out to friends & family once a date is final. Dad, this isn’t goodbye, it’s see you later!
