Glenn E. Lozo of North Tonawanda was the former Executive Director of the Boys and Girls Club of the Tonawandas. He died on December 23, 2021, at the age of 96. Born in North Tonawanda, he graduated from North Tonawanda High School with honors in January 1944. After graduation he was drafted into the U.S. Army where he served 27 months, 21 of which were served in Europe with the 14th Armored Division, a part of the Third Army under General George Patton. After his release from the Army, he graduated from University of Buffalo. He started his career as Unit Director of the Franklin Street unit of the Boys Club of the Tonawandas in 1953. In 1974 he became Executive Director of the Club, which included the Franklin Club, the Vandervoort Club in North Tonawanda, and Camp Spirit summer camp. In 1984, the club became the Boys and Girls Club of the Tonawandas. He retired in 1989 after 36 years with the club. Before his service in the Army and after, he was a member of Friedens United Church, where he served on the church council, as head of the youth department, and sang in the choir for 50 years. He also managed and played on the church softball team, which won numerous titles in the Twin Cities Church League. He also sang in the Twin City Choristers and the Choral Arts Society of the Tonawandas. He later sang in the choir of the Tonawanda United Methodist Church and North Presbyterian Church of North Tonawanda. After retiring from the Boys and Girls Club of the Tonawandas, be worked in the Before and After School program of the North Tonawanda School District for 22 years. After 58 years with the youth of the Tonawandas, he enjoyed singing and following local sports. Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Ruth (Douglas) and sons Douglas and Mark. Due to COVID concerns, no public services will be held at present, with a future memorial service to be scheduled when circumstances permit. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Boys and Girls Clubs of the Northtowns, 54 Riverdale Avenue, Buffalo, NY 14207, or to North Presbyterian Church, 168 Payne Avenue, North Tonawanda, NY 14120.
