August 13, 1938 - May 21, 2020
Olga was born on August 13, 1938 to William Dominic Fote and Olga Marie (Coccari) Fote. Her mother died in childbirth and Olga was raised by her grandmother Marie Teresa (Rovito) Coccari, having her sister Gloria assist their father to care for and raise her three brothers, Francis, William and Richard. Olga graduated from Belfast Central High School in 1953. She subsequently attended St. Bonaventure College, where she met the love of her life, William (Bill) Rosenthal. In 1960, Bill graduated first, then one week later Olga graduated and on the third week, they were married. Thirteen months later, their twin daughters Alice and Teresa were born. Olga’s final place of employment was working as a microbiologist at the NY State Department of Health, Division of Labs and Research, where she met and kept in touch with many of her lifelong friends. Olga belonged to the Abigail’s, an organization that raised funds to give to those in need. The years that she co chaired the local chapter, they assisted a family who needed funds for a new treatment that could save the life of their daughter. The treatment was a success and they went on to help many others in need. Olga also spent many happy hours playing bridge with her friends. Olga’s husband, Bill, served three years in the Army, while Olga held down the fort, caring for their daughters and awaiting Bill’s return. Both Olga and Bill retired in 1994, on the same day, and enjoyed traveling to many exotic places until Bill’s passing in 2014. Olga was predeceased by her husband Bill and her brothers Francis and Richard Fote and is survived by her sister Gloria Oliva of Olean, NY, her brother William Fote (and his wife Liz) of Naples, FL and Gail Fote, wife of Richard Fote, of Altamont Springs, FL. Additionally, she is survived by her daughters and Son-in-Laws Alice and Fred Barber of North Tonawanda, NY and Teresa and Norman Eick of Nassau, NY. She is also survived by her grandsons Freddie Barber of North Tonawanda, NY and Daniel Eick of Port Saint Lucie, FL and her granddaughter Tammy Eick (and her wife Lora Maroney) of Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Olga will be missed and grieved by her large family and many friends. A memorial service will be held at a later date once the current COVID pandemic has passed. Services will be held at St. John’s Catholic Church in Olean, NY with burial at St. Bonaventure Cemetery in Allegany, NY. Time and date will be posted. If desired, donations can be sent to St. John’s Catholic Church in Olean, NY, and would be greatly appreciated.
