Richard H. Winney

Richard H. Winney, 65, of Wheatfield, NY, Thursday (April 8, 2021) passed away at home surrounded by family under the care of Niagara Hospice. Richard was born in Buffalo, NY on October 23, 1955 to Charles and Marilyn (Stark) Winney. A United States Navy Veteran 1973-1977, and continued his service with the Naval Reserves from 1985-1990. Retiring in 2017 from four decades as a forklift mechanic with Buffalo Lift Truck & E.D. Farrell. Always known for his stories, humor and smile Richard will be greatly missed by many. Richard was predeceased by his parents and brother John Elvey. Richard is survived by his lovingly devoted wife of 42 years Catherine (Newman) Winney, father of Richard S. (Andrea) Winney, and Kristen (Eric) Toczek. Brother of Jeanne Daniels, Charles (Linda) Winney, Robert (Margaret) Winney, James (Jennifer) Winney, brother in law of Mark (Cary) Newman, Richard (Michele) Newman, and Christopher (Janice) Newman. Richard was a care-free loving grandfather to Guinevere, Liam and Desmond Toczek. He is survived by many nieces, nephews and dearly loved friends. Friends may call Monday from 4-8 P.M. at the Wattengel Funeral Home, 533 Meadow Dr. North Tonawanda. A private memorial service will be held for family at a later date.
