Lorena "Reany" E Okoniewski

Lorena “Reany” E. Okoniewski, née Wilson, 85 of North Tonawanda passed on October 17, 2021 at home under the care of Niagara Hospice. She was born in 1936 on East Oliver St. in North Tonawanda, daughter of the late Ella Wilson-Martin and Albert Wilson. She is survived by her devoted husband Walter Okoniewski who she met when she was 11 years old, they married 8 years later at St. Stanislaus Church, Buffalo and proceeded to have a loving 65 year marriage. Dear daughter Lorena “Lori” (James) Franke and cherished grandchildren Travis and Ella Franke. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends including close friend Mary Guslawski who she affectionally called “My Mary”. Predeceased by her siblings Martha (Nolan) Overturf, Doris (Donald) Larkin, Carl Wilson, Grace (Phillip) Moore and Clayton Wilson. Also predeceased by close friends Arthur & Doris Krehan and Howard and Dorothy Miller. While she was born in North Tonawanda she spent most of her childhood living in Buffalo with her aunt, cousins and siblings living close by. In the late 50’s she and Walter bought a home in Pendleton where they stayed until 1972 when they moved to North Tonawanda and spent the next 44 years. In 2016 they moved to Wheatfield sharing a house with her daughter and family. Many years of her life were spent taking care of her family but she did enjoy working various jobs at different times. She spent a few years before marriage waitressing at both the Neisners and AM&A’s lunch counters. After marriage before their daughter came along, she enjoyed working at Starpoint schools with her sisters and brother, and later in life she worked at the Anchor Motel. She retired along with Walter in 1994 and they enjoyed their free time until their first grandchild came along in 2004 and fully embraced being a “Nana” and watching her grandson a few days a week. In 2006 her granddaughter Ella joined them. Friends and family may call Sunday October 24, 2021 from 3-7pm at Wattengel Funeral Home, 533 Meadow Dr, North Tonawanda. Funeral Services Monday October 25, 2021 at 11:00am at Wattengel Funeral Home. Interment at Acacia Park Cemetery, Tonawanda Creek Rd, Pendleton. Memorials may be made to Niagara Hospice
