Ronald J. Lontkowski

It is with heavy hearts and deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Ronald J. Lontkowski on February 19 at the age of 85. Born on July 25, 1940 in Buffalo, New York, Ron was a man of few words, but had a great sense of humor and a quiet generosity. His quiet reserved nature always made those around him comfortable and his passing will be felt by his family, friends and the many lives he touched. Ron was a devoted husband and father, a loving brother, a supportive uncle, nephew, cousin, friend, and respected employee. His pride and joy were his beloved children, Julie and Greg. Ron was supportive and always encouraging to his kids. He cheered them on through every chapter of their life, offering advice and reassurance throughout their many stages from childhood into adulthood. Ron is survived by his loving wife, Arlene (Emms); his loving sister, Shirley Kamerson; daughter, Julie Krueger (Randy); son, Gregory (Janis); grandchildren, Kyle Krueger, Erika Krueger and Emily Lontkowski; his many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his beloved parents, John and Rose Lontkowski. Ron served in the Army National Guard and the Reserves. He was a proud graduate of the State University of New York at Buffalo, Erie County Technical Institute and Maynard Research Council, Inc. Ron worked at Western Electric Company as well as numerous other Buffalo companies as an industrial engineer for most of his working career. Ron, as well as his family, have a strong Bible believing faith. He attended Bible Presbyterian Church and was a lieutenant in the Christian Service Brigade/Battalion which ministered to young men. He could be seen loading up the back of his truck with youths from North Tonawanda to bring them to the church meetings. Later on he was an usher at The Chapel on North Forest Road and when they moved to Crosspoint Park. Ron gave endlessly of himself to his Christian service. Ron was an avid metal detector. He and his son were members of the Niagara Frontier Relic Hunters. He loved listening for the beeps and pulling treasure from underneath the ground. Ron‘s legacy will live on through his wife, children, grandchildren and the many nieces and nephews, who affectionately knew him as “Uncle Ronnie”. His life will be celebrated Thursday, February 26 with Visitation from 10 to 11 AM followed by a Service at 11 AM in the Wattengel Funeral Home at 533 Meadow Drive in North Tonawanda, next to the public library.
